Club Training Sessions
Club sessions are held at the
Boat House, on the banks of the River Tweed during our rowing season, which is mainly from
March to October, when weather and tide
conditions are suitable. During the winter months training
sessions are still held but in the format of ergo and circuit
training.
Club sessions are:
Juniors and beginners
- Tuesday evenings
6:30 pm prompt - 7:30 pm, where coaching will be given. Please
aim to be at the Boathouse at 6.20 pm to be ready to boat at 6.30 pm
prompt.
Advanced and club
members - Thursday evenings from 6.30 pm.
There are some
Saturday and Sunday outings, this is dependent on tide and weather
conditions.
The club has a range of boats available
from single sculls to fours and quads. Fours are ideal for
getting to grips with the basics of rowing, and quads provide a good
introduction to sculling. If you have never rowed before,
most people can pick up the basics of rowing after a couple of
sessions. Once you have mastered the technique you could then
have a try at double and single sculling.
Members
Membership is open to all,
and no previous experience
is required, and we provide tuition to all our new members. We
do ask that you should be in good health and be able to swim at
least 50m.
Junior members
Many of our new members
are juniors and rowing in fours is
only really suitable for the over 15 year olds. Juniors aged 13 to 15
year old, can try sculling, this can be in a quad, double or
single scull.
